Suspension Bridge and Ocean

- over 17 feet long
- 25,000 new pieces in bridge
- 20,000 blue 2x2 bricks in ocean
- 44 large baseplates

Although this bridge is not modelled on a specific real bridge, Laszlo Szojka built it as an accurate depiction of a real suspension bridge. The dual-deck, dual-track span is supported by black string threaded from the two seven-foot towers. Parts for this portion of the display came from all over the world, and the total of 70,000 pieces averages around $0.10 per piece. It took over 6 months to gather the pieces for the ocean. Wandering around under the bridge is a Mindstorms-controlled sailing ship built by Mike Szojka.
